Introduction

In 2019, a geotechnical investigation was carried out for the proposed development of hostels at Embu University. Based on the findings, it was recommended that either raft foundations or deep pile foundations be adopted, depending on the structural load requirements. Additionally, soil stabilization techniques were suggested in areas with weaker soils to enhance bearing capacity and mitigate settlement risks. Proper waterproofing measures were also recommended to safeguard against moisture ingress.

The geotechnical investigation for the proposed hostel development at Embu University provided valuable data for foundation design and construction planning.
